FICTION

The Creatures With Hats

“1 COFFEE: ASK ME.” What did she do that she was out and about at eight-thirty every evening? I suspected she was a spy for the higher customers, sent by them to fish for the best caffeine to fuel the addictions of the upper class. Armed with a dollar and six cents and her knowledge of the willingness of us, the Creatures With Hats, she demanded the best grounds and the freshest poison for her drowsy employers. Well, her game was up. I knew of her secret night-life and the reasons for the stains on her teeth.

Goddamn Shadow

I press her face to the chains and run as fast as I can, tearing her through the aluminum.

Promenading With Jesus

Someone turned all our Cokes to booze and suddenly, I was dancing all over her and ripping her dress at the hem from stepping on it, but she just absolved my sins and we started all over.

Shadow Physics

Somebody told us one time that, for a school project, he took all the flat parts of the world and taped stapled and glued to them dark bits  that spun around and stretched like rubber bands so that no part would have to be too dark for too long and every color got his fair percent.

Subaru

“Honey, where’s your car?”

“My heart is missing.”

“It’s probably in your car.”
